Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are two minor characters in Shakespeare’s Hamlet. So minor in fact that nobody, including themselves, can tell which one is which. They are playing a game of heads and tails. Rosencrantz wins an improbable ninety-two “heads” in a row. Their fate will be decided by the toss of a coin.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is an absurdist, existentialtragicomedy by Tom Stoppard. The play takes place mainly "in the wings" of Shakespeare's Hamlet, with brief appearances of major characters from Hamlet who enact fragments of the original's scenes.
