2024 Swim Captain Mia Fildissis winning that IGSA Swimming Championships for PLC Sydney in 2023.

Scholarship to Rice University, Houston, Texas.

One of the most significant lessons I gained at PLC Sydney was cultivating inner strength, believing in myself, and upholding personal integrity.

What contributed to your HSC success?

Being organised by maintaining an efficient study schedule and setting goals for myself both personally and academically. Furthermore, balancing extracurricular and study allowed me to deviate to my ‘happy place’ at times of need and assisted with keeping a healthy mind.

What is your fondest memory of your time at PLC Sydney?

Winning the IGSA Swimming title for the school two years in a row and being able to train under an Australian Olympian swimmer, Karen Moras.

Early Entry in 2025: Studying overseas at Rice University

Mia has accepted a scholarship to study at Rice University in 2025, a private research university in Houston, Texas. Mia's acceptance at Rice was based on her complete achievements and her SAT score - not just her swimming. Rice's acceptance letter stated:

“Early Admission I has been offered only to a select few, like you, whose sholastic accomplishments and contributions to school, community and family were significant. The personal and intellectual achievements which led to your acceptance are impressive.”

Congratulations Mia!
