Anastasia Prokhorov and Amy Feng celebrate their excellent Cambridge results.

Anastasia Prokhorov

Public Speaking Captain

The most valuable lesson I learned at PLC Sydney was to view the people around you as team members, not competition. When everyone works together, we achieve much greater results than if we try to compete with one another.

What contributed to your final year/and or HSC success?

The main contributor to my final year success was the support given to me by the people around me. My family and friends have supported me every step of the way, even when I thought I couldn’t do it. Another contributor to my success in my final year is my goals. I set goals for all of my subjects and this gave me direction and motivation when I lacked it and felt like giving up.

How important was it for you to balance your academic focus with other activities? eg co-curricular activities?

It was very important for me to balance my academic focus with co-curricular activities throughout my whole high school period. Sport plays a major part of my life and allowed me to do what I love. I played Saturday sport every term during my time at PLC, represented PLC Sydney at Tildesley tennis and took part in tennis lessons weekly which allowed me to take my mind away from the stress of school and do what I love. Also being part of orchestral groups was a large part of my time at PLC Sydney and allowed me to learn new skills and even travel on a tour to Japan in 2018. It was really important for me to balance my academic focus with these co-curricular activities as sometimes it was a lot for me to handle, but, now I believe that I am a better person for it as it taught me how to be organised and trust myself that I can get everything done especially at times where I am overwhelmed. It also took away academic stress that I was experiencing and allowed me to relax and forget about it
