Junior School Virtual Tour
Explore where we learn and play everyday
Children are curious, enthusiastic and keen to learn. The Junior School is a lively, positive learning environment and students are actively involved in their studies. Emphasis is placed on girls reaching their full potential—academically, personally and socially.
Staff work as a team to achieve the vision and values of PLC Sydney. Our teachers are innovative, dedicated, caring professionals who seek to both enable the child to learn how to make choices in learning, and who develop a deep and broad understanding. Evandale (Pre-Kindergarten to Year 2) is located next door to the Senior School, while Hamilton (Years 3 to 6) is located within the main campus. We all share the school’s outstanding facilities. Specialist staff teach Science and Technology, Library, Languages, Creative Arts, Music and PDHPE/Sport.
Learning spaces can be open or closed according to the needs of the class. We teach classes directly and we enable collaborative learning. We are strong in our teaching of writing and calculating, reading and thinking.
Open any classroom door or enter any learning space and you will find girls engaged, challenged and inspired. Students are guided by specialist teachers, they learn how to read and think and take risks. They code and program robots in the Innovation Lab, and enjoy hands-on experiences in the purpose built Junior School Science Lab. The girls interact with the natural world, learning about the creatures in our Invertebrate House and Turtle Pond; or growing their own fresh produce in the garden.
Music, Dance, Drama, Storytelling and Art classes expose students to the Performing and Creative Arts. We nurture and celebrate students’ artistic and creative talents in musicals, dance, co-curricular choral and instrument programs, art exhibitions and more.
Students take an active part in the school community and individual talents are nurtured so that each girl develops her natural abilities, personal strengths and potential.
It is hard to capture online the warmth, friendship and happiness which characterises PLC Sydney Junior School. The only way to truly experience the joy of our College is by visiting us. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
